Blue Ribbon
The dance hall was full on this Friday night, I could tell by the trucks that filled up the lot
With my new snake skin boots & my tight Wrangler jeans I moissed on in for a couple of drinks
I paid my five bucks then I got a Lone Star I fought thru the crowd up to the dance floor
That’s when I saw her just a two-stepping round in the arms of some feller who danced like a
clown
I watched her a while this lady of class then she looked over my way so I held up my glass
I thought to myself as I looked in her eyes she’s a Blue Ribbon what a heck of a prize
Chorus:
She’s a Blue Ribbon I’m a son of a gun
She’s a Blue Ribbon waiting to be won
When the music stopped playing she walked right by me
I pretended to be talking so I wouldn’t see
How she looked me up then she looked me down
She was then pulled away by her dancin clown
I watched them walk over to a single bar stool
I knew I could win her if I kept my cool
She’s a Blue Ribbon it’ll take a little time
She’s a Blue Ribbon and I want her for mine
He left her alone to go play a pool game
So I walked over to her and asked her name
She said with a smile “Why don’t we go dance instead”
I got visions of waltz’s dancing thru my head
I asked bout her boy-friend as we fought thru the crowd
She said he’d rather play pool so I guess he lost out
She’s a Blue Ribbon what a sight to see
She’s a Blue Ribbon slow dancing with me
We danced to five songs I never once herd the band
I was to busy floating on the clouds in heaven
We danced and we talked for the rest of the night
It was then time to leave so she asked for a ride
Now it’s been three years since that night I won
A first place trophy a blue ribbon
She was a Blue Ribbon right from the start
She was a Blue Ribbon and I won her heart
